Covid-19 Blessings

This novel coronavirus pandemic dawned upon us like a curse!

The last one year has been extremely challenging for each of us in every aspect of life.

But hey, let's agree, this pandemic came with its blessing too! It took the world a pandemic to several realizations and be grateful for our time on planet earth. It slowed down our lives and made us pause and think of our priorities and the very purpose of our existence.

Here's a list of covid blessings most of us can agree to;

1) Cleaner Air

When lockdown hit so suddenly, our nation and its economic activities literally came to a halt. With significant reduction of vehicles on the road and industrial activities that stalled; we witnessed clearer skies and cleaner air across the globe. Let's welcome e-motors in the coming years!

2) Keeping fit and eating right

We became more conscious of the kind of food we eat Vs our intake on a regular day that has apparently led us to endless lifestyle disorders. It has taught us to choose our food wisely, stay fit & exercise at home without complaining of lack of time! This is 100% doable. Gym's are no magic planet, its our training consistency and clean eating habits that really matter.

3) Bringing hearts together

Most of us led such a busy routine pre-covid that we barely had moments to spare for our own family members and friends we live with under the same roof or otherwise. The lock-down gave us a lifetime opportunity to spend time with one another and value what we have, make the most to bond once again and start afresh.

4) Work from home

What was otherwise a culture shock is now a convenient option for many corporates to allow their employees to work from home at their comfort. Studies have also shown much more productivity and cost savings in adopting this concept. Lesser pollution, lesser operating costs, increased productivity and maximum employee satisfaction!

5) Covid protocols

One of the best things about the covid safety mandates is its protocols that should be followed even post covid;

Masks: With the compulsion of wearing masks, you see lesser people spitting on the road! Yes people still do it, but you can make a difference. If you see that happening, give the person a piece of your mind and shame the daylights of him/her! If only our Government were to strictly start fining for spitting, we would have the richest government overnight!

Sanitization: This personal hygiene regime must be followed irrespective of covid-19 or not. It has simply made us realize the things we should be mindful about. We are now careful about washing our hands each time we enter our homes, taking off our filthy shoes before we touch anything or anyone.

Why would you want to be in a hurry to hold your new born or dive into your fridge soon as you enter home after a hard days work and the travel. They are just a handwash away!

Social distancing: Badly needed in a country like ours! I had never experienced such calm waiting in a queue since covid-19 hit. Today, I am least bothered about the next in queue jumping on my face!

6) Technology

Technology has gotten the world together! Right from paying our bills, interacting for personal, academic or business purposes is just a click away and is considered very normal! No more obligations!

7) Due credit to our doctors

We've heard this time and again; 'do not administer medication without a doctor's prescription'. Self medication may work as a quick fix, but its also accompanied with grave consequences! Our doctors have immense experience and contribution towards saving lives. So, please visit a doctor if you feel unwell and listen to him/her alone.

Each one of us are directly responsible for shaping our future and  for the generations to come. Be wise & stay safe.

Lets get vaccinated & continue with good habits we picked up during this pandemic!
